Henderson occupies the southeast corner of the Las Vegas Valley, and it does not read as one market. The city grew up around a World War II magnesium plant, and that tract is still here: the Black Mountain Industrial Complex, east of Boulder Highway, where chemical and industrial plants still run. It is not city ground, but an unincorporated Clark County island ringed by Henderson.
